Great location in the old quarter and minutes walk from bars, restaurants and the local small rocky beach. Our room was on the first floor of this old characterful building with a pretty terrace overlooking the main street. There is another entrance/exit down to the old quarter. Polignare a Mare is the birthplace of Domenico Modugno of ‘Volare’ fame; an Italian classic. There’s a beautiful bronze statue of him near the Centro. Staff were really helpful and suggested good restaurants and a great beach- Cala San Antonio. We were 20 feet from the sea which was warm and shallow for 50 meters out. Again loud music from the neighbouring beach club was a bit off-putting but nothing we could do about it! There’s a bar for gelati or pizza, salad etc – Caffe crema was amazing! The bar opposite Antico Mondo on the town side is a piece of history. Bar Mario Campanella serves fab gelati, breakfast, prosseco, beer, coffee at very reasonable prices. We loved it. The staff arranged for us to park in a local car park as no parking near the property. It was only 5 minutes walk and they arrange a rickshaw type shuttle service for luggage transfers.
